English translation

2510. It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbās that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "One fifth is due on buried treasure." (Sahih)

Arabic text

2510 - حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «فِي الرِّكَازِ الْخُمُسُ»

Commentary

Rikâz is buried treasure whose ownership and burial period is not known. Immediate payment of one fifth is due on such treasure, and the rest is the property of the founder.
