Commentary

a. Anyone who acquires knowledge without sincerity of intention is generally prompted by such motives as have been mentioned in the Hadith. His evil intention, therefore, will drive him to Hell. b. There are people who either want to be more and more famous among the population, and also wish that many titles are added to their names both in speech and writing. Or else their aim is to secure a high position in a religious or political organization. With these aims in view, they use various tactics for the glorification of self, and the degradation of other scholars. The main reason behind all this is their lack of sincerity.
