English translation

2910. It was narrated that Jābir bin 'Abdullāh said: "A woman held up a child of hers to the Prophet ﷺ during Hajj and said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, is there Hajj for this one?' He said: 'Yes, and you will be rewarded.'" (Sahih)

Arabic text

2910 - عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَرِيفٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُوقَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: رَفَعَتِ امْرَأَةٌ صَبِيًّا لَهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّتِهِ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلِهَذَا حَجٌّ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ» بَابُ النُّفَسَاءِ وَالْحَائِضِ، تُهِلُّ بِالْحَجِّ

Commentary

Hajj of a child who still did not reach the age of puberty is valid, but it is considered a voluntary Hajj. So, the Hajj becomes obligatory on him after maturity if he can afford it.
