Commentary

As paying debts is compulsory to get back the mortgaged item, just like that, full blessings and benefits of the child could be obtained when his 'Aqiqah is performed. 'Aqiqah is performed on the seventh day; if it is not possible, then it could be performed on the fourteenth or twenty-first day. The child is to be named on the seventh day; it could be given even before that day. The Prophet ﷺ suggested the name of some newborn children on the first day. Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari narrated: "A son was born to me and I took him to the Prophet ﷺ who named him Ibrâhîm, did Tahnik for him with a date...." (Sahih Al-Bukhârî: 5467 and Sahih Muslim: 2144)
