Text and translation

English translation

3469. It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "Mention of fever was made in the presence of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, and a man cursed it. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not curse it, for it erases sin as fire removes the filth from iron.'" (Sahih)

Commentary

One should remain patient with his sickness. Instead of complaining, one should pay heed to making supplications and using medication. Sickness expiates evil deeds and wipes out sins, if one remains patient.
