Commentary

The Negus (Najâshi), was the King of Abyssinia. He provided shelter respectfully to the Muslims who went to Abyssinia, before the emigration to Al-Madinah. The Prophet ﷺ performed the funeral prayer in absentia on his death in Al-Madinah. Wearing black socks is allowed.
