3649. It was narrated from Abu Talhah that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image." (Sahih)

3649 - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا تَدْخُلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ، وَلَا صُورَةٌ»

Commentary
Keeping a watch dog or a hunting dog is allowed. "Picture" means the picture of livings thing, whether it is a picture of human beings, animals, birds, or fishes, etc. The sin of drawing pictures on currency notes, identity cards, etc, lies on those who draw them, provided the bearer dislikes it in his heart and wishes if he were the responsible one, he would stop making such pictures and would spread any other lawful matter as an alternate. Angels here means the angels of mercy; otherwise, the angels of death go even the places they do not like, in order to implement the commands of Allāh.
