English translation

[1325] 129 - (589) Urwah bin Az-Zubair narrated that 'Aishah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, told him that the Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate during his prayer, saying: "Allâhumma, innî a'ûdhu bika min 'adhâbil-qabri, wa a'ûdhu bika min fitnatil-masîhid-dajjâl, wa a'ûdhu bika min fitnatil-mahyâ wal-mamâtî, Allâhumma, innî a'ûdhu bika min al-ma'thami wal-maghram" (O Allâh, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge with You from the tribulation of the Dajjâl, and I seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death. O Allâh, I seek refuge with You from sin and debt.)" Someone said to him: "How often you seek refuge from debt, O Messenger of Allâh." He said: "When a man incurs debt, whenever he speaks, he lies, and when he makes a promise, he breaks it."
