English translation

[2457] 149 - (1065) It was narrated from Abû Sa'eed that the Prophet ﷺ mentioned some people who would be among his Ummah; they would emerge when there was division among the people, and their distinguishing feature would be shaving.[1] He said: "They are the most evil of people -" or said "they are among the most evil of people" - "and the group that is closer to the truth will kill them." The Prophet ﷺ gave a likeness of them, or he said: "A man shoots at the prey" - or "the target" - "then he looks at the arrow and does not see any sign (of blood); he looks at the lowest end of the arrow and does not see any sign (of blood); he looks at the notch and does not see any sign (of blood)." Abû Sa'eed said: "And you have killed them, O people of Al-'Irâq."

149 - (1064) وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ قَوْمًا يَكُونُونَ فِي أُمَّتِهِ، يَخْرُجُونَ فِي فُرْقَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ، سِيمَاهُمْ التَّحَالُقُ قَالَ: «هُمْ شَرُّ الْخَلْقِ - أَوْ مِنْ أَشَرِّ الْخَلْقِ - يَقْتُلُهُمْ أَدْنَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ إِلَى الْحَقِّ» قَالَ: فَضَرَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُمْ مَثَلًا، أَوْ قَالَ قَوْلًا «الرَّجُلُ يَرْمِي الرَّمِيَّةَ - أَوْ قَالَ الْغَرَضَ - فَيَنْظُرُ فِي النَّصْلِ فَلَا يَرَى بَصِيرَةً، وَيَنْظُرُ فِي النَّضِيِّ فَلَا يَرَى بَصِيرَةً، وَيَنْظُرُ فِي الْفُوقِ فَلَا يَرَى بَصِيرَةً» قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ: «وَأَنْتُمْ قَتَلْتُمُوهُمْ، يَا أَهْلَ الْعِرَاقِ»
