Text and translation

English translation

[3682] 23 - (1476) It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “The Messenger of Allâh ﷺ used to ask us for permission - if it was the day of one of us - after the verse “You can postpone (the turn of) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive whom you will.”[2] was revealed. Mu’adhah said to her: ‘What did you say to the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ when he asked you for permission?’ She said: ‘If it had been up to me I would not have shown preference to anyone over myself.’”
