English translation

[3729] 59 - (1486) It was narrated that Ĥumaid bin Nāfi' said: I heard Zainab, the daughter of Umm Salamah, say: A close relative of Umm Ĥabībah died, and she called for some yellow perfume and put it on her forearms, and she said: “I only did this because I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: ‘It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allāh and the Last Day to mourn for more than three days, except for a husband, four months and ten days.’”
