English translation

[6109] 127 - (2356) It wasnarrated that 'Āishah said: "TheMessenger of Allāh ﷺ didsomething that he regarded aspermissible. News of that reachedsome of his Companions, and itwas as if they disliked it andrefrained from it. News of thatreached him, and he stood up todeliver a speech and said: 'Whatis the matter with some men whohear of something that I didbecause I regarded it as permissible,but they dislike it and refrain fromit? By Allāh, I am the mostknowledgeable of them about Allāh,and I am the one who fears Him themost.'"

127 - (2356) حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمْرًا فَتَرَخَّصَ فِيهِ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، فَكَأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوهُ وَتَنَزَّهُوا عَنْهُ، فَبَلَغَهُ ذَلِكَ، فَقَامَ خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ: «مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ بَلَغَهُمْ عَنِّي أَمْرٌ تَرَخَّصْتُ فِيهِ، فَكَرِهُوهُ وَتَنَزَّهُوا عَنْهُ، فَوَاللهِ لَأَنَا أَعْلَمُهُمْ بِاللهِ، وَأَشَدُّهُمْ لَهُ خَشْيَةً»
