English translation

[6334] 116 - (2464) It was narrated that Masrūq said: "We used to come to 'Abdullāh bin 'Amr and talk to him" - Ibn Numair said: "with him" - and one day we mentioned 'Abdullāh bin Mas'ūd. He said: 'You have mentioned a man whom I still love after something that I heard from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: "Learn the Qur'ān from four: from Ibn Umm 'Abd - and he started with him, Mu'adh bin Jabal, Ubayy bin Ka'b and Sâlim the freed slave of Abû Hudhaifah."
