English translation

[7552] 26 - (3029) It wasnarrated that Jâbir, may Allâh bepleased with him, said: "Abdullâhbin Ubayy bin Salûl used to sayto a slave woman of his: 'Go andearn something for us (by meansof prostitution).' Then Allâh,Glorified and Exalted is He,revealed the words: "...And forcenot your maids to prostitution, ifthey desire chastity, in order thatyou may make a gain in the(perishable) goods of this worldlylife. But if anyone compels them(to prostitution), then after suchcompulsion, Allâh is" - regardingthem- "Oft-Forgiving, MostMerciful."[3]

26 - (3029) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ - وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي كُرَيْبٍ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: " كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ ابْنُ سَلُولَ يَقُولُ لِجَارِيَةٍ لَهُ: اذْهَبِي فَابْغِينَا شَيْئًا، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا فَتَيَاتِكُمْ عَلَى الْبِغَاءِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَ تَحَصُّنًا لِتَبْتَغُوا عَرَضَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَمَنْ يُكْرِهْهُنَّ فَإِنَّ اللهَ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِكْرَاهِهِنَّ} [النور: 33] لَهُنَّ {غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ} [البقرة: 173] "
