English translation

[2693] 154 - (1148) It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbās [may Allāh be pleased with them] that a woman came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and said: “My mother has died, and she owed one month of fasting.” He said: “Don’t you think that if she owed a debt, you would pay it off?” She said: “Yes.” He said: “The debt owed to Allāh is more deserving of being paid off.”
