English translation

[432] 280 - (174) Ash-Shaibānī said: “I asked Zirr bin Ḥubaish about the saying of Allāh: And was at a distance of two bows’ length or (even) nearer.”[2] He said: ‘Ibn Mas’ūd told me that the Prophet ﷺ saw Jibrīl, ﷺ, with six hundred wings.”

باب: {وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَى} 280 - (174) وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، حَدَّثَنَا الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ زِرَّ بْنَ حُبَيْشٍ، عَنْ قَوْلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى} [النجم: 9]، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى جِبْرِيلَ لَهُ سِتُّمِائَةِ جَنَاحٍ»
