English translation

[4616] 79 - (...) It was narratedfrom Abû Ishâq that a man cameto Al-Barâ' and said: Did you runaway on the day of (of the battleof) Hunain, O Abû 'Umârah? Hesaid: I bear witness that theProphet of Allâh ﷺ did notretreat, but some hasty and ill-prepared young men went outand met this tribe of Hawâzin, whowere archers. They shot a volley ofarrows at them and did not miss, and the people retreated. Thenthe people started coming to theMessenger of Allâh ﷺ when AbûSufyân bin Al-Hârith was leadinghis mule, and he (ﷺ) dismountedand called upon Allâh, seeking Hishelp, and saying: "I am the Prophet and no doubtI am the son of 'Abdul-Muṭṭalib.O Allâh, send down Your help."Al-Barâ' said: By Allâh, whenthe battle grew fierce, we soughtprotection by his side, and thebrave ones among us were thosewho managed to stand by hisside.
