English translation

[5580] 123 - (...) Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab said: Mu'âwiyah came to Al-Madînah and addressed us. He brought out a bunch of hair and said: "I did not think that anyone did this but the Jews. The Messenger of Allâh ﷺ heard of this and he called it falsehood."

123 - (2127) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، قَالَ: قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَخَطَبَنَا وَأَخْرَجَ كُبَّةً مِنْ شَعَرٍ، فَقَالَ: «مَا كُنْتُ أُرَى أَنَّ أَحَدًا يَفْعَلُهُ إِلَّا الْيَهُودَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَلَغَهُ فَسَمَّاهُ الزُّورَ»
