English translation
[5652] 6 - (2163) It was narrated from Anas bin Mâlik that the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said: “If the people of the Book greet you with Salâm, say: ‘Wa ‘alaikum (and also unto you).”

6 - (2163) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ح وحَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ»
