English translation

[7543] 18 - (...) It was narratedthat Sa'd bin Jubair, may Allāhbe pleased with him, said:"Abdur-Raḥmān bin Abza told meto ask Ibn 'Abbās for him aboutthese two Verses: "And whoeverkills a believer intentionally, hisrecompense is Hell to abidetherein..."[1] I asked him, and hesaid: 'It has not been abrogatedby anything.' And about thisVerse: "And those who invokenot any other ilāh (god) alongwith Allāh, nor kill such personas Allāh has forbidden, except forjust cause..."[2] He said: 'It wasrevealed concerning the peopleof Shirk.'"

18 - (3023) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ: أَمَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبْزَى، أَنْ أَسْأَلَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ هَاتَيْنِ الْآيَتَيْنِ: {وَمَنْ يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا} [النساء: 93] فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ: «لَمْ يَنْسَخْهَا شَيْءٌ» وَعَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ: {وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ، وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ} [الفرقان: 68] قَالَ: «نَزَلَتْ فِي أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ»
