Text and translation

English translation

1125. 'Aishah ﷺ said: "I noticed that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was missing from his bed, so I started to look for him, and I thought that he had gone to one of his concubines. Then my hand fell on him when he was prostrating and saying: 'Allāhummaḡfirlī mā asrartu wa mā a'lant' (O Allāh, forgive me for what (sin) I have concealed and what I have done openly)." (Ṣaḥīḥ)

Commentary

What 'Aishah ﷺ imagined is wholly in accordance with human inherent nature; otherwise Allāh's Messenger's ﷺ love for 'Aishah ﷺ had been greater. of all. (Sahīh Al-Bukhārī: 3662; Sahīh Muslim: 2384). During the time of her turn, the Prophet ﷺ would not go to any other of his wives. In actuality, this shows that ʾAishah loved the Prophet ﷺ immensely. That is why such misgivings occurred.
