When someone conducts himself heedlessly in prayer before Allāh, Allāh turns His Face away from him. And such a person remains deprived of Allāh's Mercy. However, if there is a need, for example, if one makes the place even in order to prostrate oneself, then one could level out the pebbles. Otherwise, one would suffer discomfort throughout the state of prostration, which would break one's concentration during prayer.
