Text and translation

English translation

2004. It was narrated that ‘Abdullāh bin Tha’labah said: “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, concerning those who had been slain at Uhud: ‘Wrap them up in their clothes that are stained with blood, for there is no wound that is sustained for the sake of Allāh, but it will come bleeding on the Day of Resurrection; its color will be the color of blood, but its fragrance will be the fragrance of musk.’” (Sahih)

Commentary

It is agreed upon that the martyr shall not be given the ritual bath. He would rather be enshrined in appropriate garments; he would be given a burial in the same blood-stained garments.
