Text and translation

English translation

2111. It was narrated from Abū Bakrah that the Prophet ﷺ said: "None of you should say: 'I fasted Ramaḍān' or 'I prayed Qiyām throughout the whole month.'" I do not know whether he disliked self-praise or he said: "Inevitably there will be heedlessness and sleep." (Da'if)

Commentary

So to say, it is not appropriate to attribute righteousness to one's own self; rather it ought to be attributed to the Divine help. Moreover, one should not make needless pronouncements of one's righteous deeds.
