English translation
2126. It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbâs said: “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then complete thirty (days).” (Sahih)

2124 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ أَبُو الْجَوْزَاءِ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ بَصْرِيٌّ، أَخُو أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ ثَلَاثِينَ»
