[1] As to whether Ramaḍān has begun.
Commentary
This indicates the thirtieth day of the month of Sha'bān, because it is the day when the possibility occurs it might have been the first day of the month of Ramaḍān, or the Ramaḍān might have possibly commenced. Some people used to fast without having sighted the crescent, out of extreme caution, thinking the crescent might probably have appeared. But this sort of caution is a sheer violation of the veracious Divine law - the Shariah.
