English translation

2228. It was narrated that Mu'adh bin Jabal said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Fasting is a shield.'" (Ṣaḥīḥ)

Arabic text

2226 - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ النَّزَّالِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ»
