English translation

2231. Abû Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said: 'Fasting is a shield.'" (Sahîh)

Arabic text

2229 - وأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُوَيْدٌ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قِرَاءَةً عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ الزَّيَّاتُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ»
