English translation

2840. It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbâs said: “The Prophet ﷺ married Maimûnah when he was in Ihrâm.” (Šahîh)

Arabic text

2837 - أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْعَطَّارُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو وَهُوَ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «تَزَوَّجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَيْمُونَةَ، وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ»

Commentary

An inference has been drawn on the basis of this narration that a man may marry in the state of Ihrâm. There is no doubt at all that this narration is authentic from the point of the chain of its transmission, but its content or theme is in conflict with other sound and authentic Ahâdîth.
