Commentary

This narration is also recorded in Sahih Muslim (Sahih Muslim - The Book of Marriage; Hadith 1409). Hence, it is absolutely authentic. Moreover, it is an unequivocally stated narration (plain and clear), which is utterly clear in its meaning. It cannot be interpreted beyond the obvious sense of the given text. Therefore, the dominant majority of the people of Hadith and jurists have adopted the same viewpoint.
