Commentary

"Wearing a helmet": In some narrations it occurs that it was a black turban (Saḥīh Muslim, Al-Hajj, Hadīth 1358 and see No. 2872). It is possible that at one time there was a helmet, at another a turban, or he might have fastened a turban over the helmet, or there was a helmet upon the turban, whatever the case might have been. It is proven that Allāh's Messenger ﷺ was not in the state of Ihrām.
