2932. Wabarâh said: “I heard ‘Abdullâh bin ‘Umar say, when a man asked him whether he could perform Tawâf around the House when he had entered Iḥrâm for Hajj: ‘What is stopping you?’ He said: ‘I saw ‘Abdullâh bin ‘Abbâs forbidding that, but you are telling us something different.’ He said: ‘We saw the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ enter Iḥrâm for Hajj, then circumambulate the House then perform Sâṭ between Aṣ-Ṣafâ and Al-Marwah.’” (Ṣaḥīḥ)

Commentary
After performing Tawâf, only that pilgrim could come out of Iḥrâm who had entered the state of sanctity for Umrah. Iḥrâm for Hajj cannot be converted into that for Umrah. The conversion of Iḥrâm for Hajj into that of the Umrah during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ was specific to that year only. (See 2805).
