English translation

3252. It was narrated from Anas that a woman offered herself in marriage to the Prophet ﷺ. The daughter of Anas laughed and said: "How little was her modesty." Anas said: "She was better than you; she offered herself in marriage to the Prophet ﷺ." (Sahih)

Commentary

The daughter of Anas ﷺ had, perhaps, not reflected upon the aforementioned Hadīth (3251). Otherwise, making proposal for one's own marriage is not immodesty, especially with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ; who was her legal and lawful guardian in accordance with the rule of the Divine law.
