This detailed discussion has preceded above in the Hadīth 4285. Although there was mention of one Qirāt there, here is mentioned two Qirāts. It is possible this might have been due to the difference between one dog and another. It means the reward decreases to the measure of two Qirāts when the dog is more harmful, and when the dog is less injurious, the decrease in the reward is to the measure of one Qirāt. Or it might be the difference of one place to another. In the urban population, two Qirāts, whereas in the desert or an open place one Qirāt, etc. (The term Qirāt (pl. Qavārāt) means a measure of weight with various meanings, either a twelfth of a dirham or particularly in following the funeral until the burial, it has been said to be a huge weight like that of Mount Uhud).
