English translation
4398. It was narrated that Jâbir said: "We would make Tamattu' when the Prophet ﷺ was with us, and we would sacrifice a cow on behalf of seven people, sharing it among ourselves." (Sahih)

٤٣٩٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: «كُنَّا نَتَمَتَّعُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَذْبَحُ الْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَنَشْتَرِكُ فِيهَا».

Commentary
This sort of sharing could be practiced in sacrifices only, not in Aqîqâ (sacrifice for a newborn), because for offering the sacrifice only one time period is prescribed; whereas the Aqîqâ is done congruent to each newborn baby.
