Text and translation

English translation

1139. Rabīʿah bin Kaʿb Al-Aslamī said: "I used to bring to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ water for Wudūʿ and serve him. He said: 'Ask of me.' I said: 'I want to be with you in Paradise.' He said: 'Is there anything else?' I said: 'That is all.' He said: 'Help me to fulfil your wish by prostrating a great deal.'" (Sahīh)

Commentary

We learn that reliance upon intercession and the supplications of others is not sufficient. On the contrary, one should himself face hardships so that he could deservedly earn commendation and rewards.
