English translation
2029. It was narrated that Jâbir said: “The Messenger of Allâh ﷺ forbade building over graves, making them larger or plastering over them.” (One of two narrators) Sulaimân bin Mûsâ added: “Or writing on them.” (Sahīh)

2027 - أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَقَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى، وَأَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُبْنَى عَلَى الْقَبْرِ، أَوْ يُزَادَ عَلَيْهِ، أَوْ يُجَصَّصَ» زَادَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى: «أَوْ يُكْتَبَ عَلَيْهِ»

Commentary
Meaning to raise the grave high like an edifice or building, or constructing an edifice around the grave, whether it be for the protection of the grave or for the convenience of visitors, is forbidden in any form. This is because in this way, the grave will remain for a long time. It would cause discomfort to those arriving after it. Moreover, it is the cause of grave worship. Nowadays, such graves have become the rendezvous of drug-addicts and criminals.
