English translation

2077. It was narrated that Anas said: "During the night, the Muslims heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ standing and calling out at the well of Badr: 'O Abū Jahl bin Hishām! O Shaibah bin Rabī'ah! O 'Utbah bin Rabī'ah! O Umayyah bin Khalaf! Have you found what your Lord promised to be true? For I have found what my Lord promised me to be true.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, are you calling out to people who have turned into rotten corpses?' He said: 'You do not hear what I say any better than they do, but they cannot answer.'" (Sahih)

2075 - أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: سَمِعَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ بِبِئْرِ بَدْرٍ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ يُنَادِي: «يَا أَبَا جَهْلِ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، وَيَا شَيْبَةُ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ، وَيَا عُتْبَةُ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ، وَيَا أُمَيَّةَ بْنَ خَلَفٍ، هَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَ رَبُّكُمْ حَقًّا؟ فَإِنِّي وَجَدْتُ مَا وَعَدَنِي رَبِّي حَقًّا»، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَوَ تُنَادِي قَوْمًا قَدْ جَيَّفُوا؟ فَقَالَ: «مَا أَنْتُمْ بِأَسْمَعَ لِمَا أَقُولُ مِنْهُمْ، وَلَكِنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ أَنْ يُجِيبُوا»
