English translation

2627. It was narrated from Abū Hurairah that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Jihād of the elderly, the young, the weak, and women, is Hajj and Umrah." (Sahīh)

Arabic text

2626 - أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ اللَّيْثِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " جِهَادُ الْكَبِيرِ، وَالصَّغِيرِ، وَالضَّعِيفِ، وَالْمَرْأَةِ: الْحَجُّ، وَالْعُمْرَةُ "

Commentary

Obviously, these four kinds of people cannot go to fight in the way of Allāh. The way to gain the merit of fighting in the way of Allāh, or Jihād, for them, is that they should perform Hajj and Umrah. They would gain the reward of Jihād. Each one's recompense is proportionate to his capability.
