English translation

2672. It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbâs said: “I heard the Prophet ﷺ delivering a Khuṭbah and he said: ‘Pants (are allowed) for one who cannot find an Izâr, and Khuffs for one who cannot find sandals to wear in Iḥrâm.” (Saḥīḥ)

2671 - أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: «السَّرَاوِيلُ لِمَنْ لَا يَجِدُ الْإِزَارَ، وَالْخُفَّيْنِ لِمَنْ لَا يَجِدُ النَّعْلَيْنِ لِلْمُحْرِمِ»

Commentary

In the state of compulsion, a Muḥrim may wear a pair of trousers or drawers and footgear. However, the footgear should be cut below the ankles before wearing them as has preceded in the previous narration.
