English translation

2914. Āishah said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allāh! Can I not enter the House?' He said: 'Enter the Hijr for it is part of the House.'" (Sahih)

Arabic text

2911 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرِّبَاطِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ قَالَتْ: حَدَّثَتْنَا عَائِشَةُ، قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا أَدْخُلُ الْبَيْتَ؟ قَالَ: «ادْخُلِي الْحِجْرَ فَإِنَّهُ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ»

Commentary

Though the Hijr is a part of the House of Allāh, one should not perform prayer only facing the Hijr; the House of Allāh should also be in front. That means one should practice caution in both the situations.
