English translation

3060. It was narrated that Al-Faql bin 'Abbâs said: "The Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said to the people when they moved on, on the evening of 'Arafât and the morning of Jam' (Al-Muzdalifah): 'You must be tranquil.' He was reining in his camel, and when he entered Mina, he came down to Muḥassir and said: 'You have to pick up pebbles the size of date stones or fingertips with which to stone the Jamrat.' He said: 'And the Prophet ﷺ gestured with his hand like a man throwing a pebble.'" (Sahih)

Commentary

Various ways of Khazf have been described. But the more emulous or practicable and easy way to perform Rami is that the pebble should be gripped between the extremities of the thumb and that of the forefinger.
