Text and translation

English translation

421. It was narrated that 'Aîshah said: "The Prophet ﷺ used to like to start with the right as much as he could when purifying himself, putting on sandals and combing his hair" - and he (the narrator) said in Wâsiṭ (a place in Iraq): "And in all his affairs." (Ṣaḥīḥ)

Commentary

Since ablution is an act of worship, beginning with the right would be the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and to abandon it is deemed blameworthy. And to take it lightly would be subject to punishment.
