Commentary

Barā' bin Āzib is a Helper Companion. It is apparent that he used to perform prayer with the Prophet ﷺ after the emigration only. Hence, this Hadīth signifies that for sixteen to seventeen months after the emigration, Bait Al-Maqdis remained the Qiblah of Muslims. Then, in the month of Sha'ban of the year 2 H, the Ka'bah was made the Qiblah.
