English translation

4935. It was narrated that 'Āishah said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'The hand of the thief is to be cut off for the price of a shield, and the price of a shield is one-quarter of a Dînâr.'" (Sahîh)

Arabic text

4931 - أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي الرِّجَالِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يُقْطَعُ يَدُ السَّارِقِ فِي ثَمَنِ الْمِجَنِّ، وَثَمَنُ الْمِجَنِّ رُبْعُ دِينَارٍ»
