Text and translation

English translation

521. It was narrated from a man of Aslam, who was one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, that they used to pray Maghrib with the Prophet ﷺ, then they would go back to their families in the furthest part of Al-Madinah, shooting arrows and seeing where they landed.[1] (Hasan)

Commentary

1. As we get to know from this Hadīth the Maghrib prayer should be offered immediately after the sunset, and small Surahs should be recited in it. Otherwise, while praying it would grow dark. 2. Here, in actuality, is meant the city of Madinah and not the habitations around its outskirts. Because, they were situated at a distance of several miles.
