[1] A white fruit from a type of plant.
[2] Made of hairless, tanned leather.
1. 'As-Sabtīyyah sandals': Sandals made out of tanned hide are called so. They have no hair on them. Among the Arabs, there was also a custom of wearing leather sandals having hair upon them. Compared with them, the Sabtīyyah sandals (or shoes) were considered expensive. There is no harm in wearing them. 2. Wars and saffron are colored perfumes. Their use by men upon their bodies is not appropriate, although hair could be tinted with them. So far as the Prophet's hair tinting his beard is concerned, its detail could be seen in Hadīth 5086, 5089, and 5118. (Wars is a certain plant of yellow color, resembling sesame with which one dyes - Lane p. 2986)
