Text and translation

English translation

738. It was narrated from Anas bin Mâlik that Umm Sulaim asked the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ to come to her and pray in her house so that she could take (the place where he prayed) as a Musalla (prayer place). So he came to her and she went and got a reed mat and sprinkled it with water, and he prayed on it, and they prayed with him. (Saḥīḥ)

Commentary

Hasir signifies a mat woven out of palm-leaves. Soaking it with water was done with the objective of softening it or cleansing it.
