English translation

1014. Jābir bin Samurah narrated: "The Prophet ﷺ followed the funeral of Ibn Ad-Daḥdāḥ walking, and he returned on horseback." (Ṣaḥīḥ) Abū 'Eisā said: This Hadīth is Hasan Ṣaḥīḥ.

Arabic text

١٠١٤ - حَدَّثَنَا ‌عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْهَاشِمِيُّ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ‌أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ ، عَنِ ‌الْجَرَّاحِ ، عَنْ ‌سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ ‌جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اتَّبَعَ جِنَازَةَ ابْنِ الدَّحْدَاحِ» مَاشِيًا، وَرَجَعَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

Commentary

This narration proves that returning from a funeral, after burying the dead on a mount is allowed and correct and there is no difference of opinion on this issue. (Al-Mughnī v. 2, p. 397.)
