2049. 'Imrān bin Hušain narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prohibited cauterization. He said: “We were tested (with a severe medical condition) so we were cauterized, but we did not have good results, nor was it successful for us.” (Ṣaḥīh) [Abū 'Eisā said:] This Hadīth is Hasan Ṣaḥīh. (Another chain) from 'Imrān bin Hušain who said: “We were prohibited from cauterization.” [Abū 'Eisā said:] There are narrations on this topic from Ibn Mas'ūd, 'Uqbah bin 'Āmir, and Ibn ‘Abbās. Commentary

As long as treatment other than cauterization is available, recourse to cauterization must be avoided.
